This page gives you the latest bird and wildlife news from Chew Valley Lake (and sometimes elsewhere if there's anything good about). Records are taken from various sources and should be regarded as unconfirmed.

When you visit Chew, please remember that you'll need a permit to enter the lake enclosure or use the hides. You can get one from Woodford Lodge, the Tea Rooms, or by post. See my access page for full details. Seen anything good? Please contact me.

Fatbirder's Top 1000 Birding Websites

I've now decided to update news solely via Twitter. Readers who don't use Twitter can still see all of the news in the panel to the right, and those who do use Twitter and follow me can still have CVL news direct from me or via my retweets.

So if you have interesting news to share, please either email as before or tweet me. Needless to say the feed will occasionally contain news not directly related to Chew, but the drivel is only occasional. I won't be tweeting/retweeting about all the commoner 'padders' that I used to mention in the daily summaries, so I probably won't tweet everything I get to hear about. You can view all the old news by clicking the logbook link on the homepage.

I would like to thank everybody who has taken the trouble to give me Chew news over the last ten years, and would encourage you to continue to do so on Twitter. Go on... you might like it!

The 2015 Avon Bird Report is now available for 9.50 (inc postage) from Harvey Rose, Arncliffe, Coast Road, Walton Bay, Clevedon, BS21 7FW.

Thanks to Lakeside Optics for sponsoring CVL birding. Click here for their website.
